Lawrenceburg, IN Geothermal Installation & Service

The cold winters of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, require efficient heating to keep warm at a reasonable cost. If you are looking for ways to cut energy costs, a geothermal heat pump may be the answer. Geothermal heat pumps, also called ground-source heat pumps, work on the same principle as conventional heat pumps but with one major difference. Ground-source heat pumps draw energy from subsurface soil, which stays at a constant temperature of between 50 and 70 degrees F throughout the year.

Western Hills Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. is a GeoPro Master Dealer for WaterFurnace. We install geothermal heat pumps as well as conventional heating and cooling systems in our service area of southeastern Indiana, southwestern Ohio and northeastern Kentucky.

Advantages of Geothermal Heat Pumps

We recommend heat pumps because they move energy from one place to another instead of using energy to heat and cool. Conventional heat pumps work harder during summer months to transfer heat from indoors to outside and become less efficient as temperatures drop below freezing. Geothermal heat pumps remain efficient no matter what the air temperature. Geothermal systems are quiet, clean and can cut utility bills by up to 70 percent. They last up to 50 years and need little maintenance.

Geothermal Heat Pump Installation

We install all four types of geothermal units. The type of installation depends on local soils, availability of water and lot size. Vertical, horizontal and pond or lake closed-loop systems circulate refrigerant through closed pipes buried in the ground or submerged in water. In vertical loop systems, pipes are drilled between 100 and 400 feet deep. In horizontal systems, 400 feet of coiled piping is buried between 4 and 6 feet deep. In the pond system, coiled piping is submerged about 8 feet deep.

Open-loop systems use a clean water source such as a well or surface water as the heat exchange fluid. The water is drawn from the source, circulated through the system and discharged back into the source.
